I'm defective

It really isn't my fault. You see, it's genetic. I have this horrible personality trait that I inherited from my mother. She (and her sisters) inherited it from her mother who inherited it from her mother. It pretty much stays with the women in the family, but I fear it might be getting worse with each generation. Are you ready for the awful truth?
I laugh at other people's pain.
It's true. I am ashamed to admit it, but people getting hurt is the funniest thing in the world to me. Yesterday, my dad walked right into my sliding glass door. I thought I was going to pee my pants, I was trying so hard to hold in the laughter. When Ben stubs his toe or Tyler hits him in the head with a toy I crumple to my knees in a fit of giggles. Nicole tripped today while we were walking Tyler to preschool and I busted up laughing. When someone gets REALLY hurt (like the time my dad was engulfed in a fireball and burned half the skin off his body) that's not funny at all. Or when Ben had his kidney stones, again, not funny. But the little things are beyond hilarious to me. So if you trip and fall or bang your head getting out of the car (a personal favorite of mine) or poke yourself in the eye with your sunglasses, I will probably laugh at you. In fact, I will definitely laugh at you. But please don't be offended. Don't think that I'm a callous, mean spirited human being. I was just born this way.

7 Year Anniversary

Well, in keeping with our plan of being the most boring people ever, Kristi and I celebrated our 7 years of marriage yesterday with little to no fanfare. My parents are in town, so we took the kids to the Rose Garden, near the Portland Zoo. Of course, the kids only wanted to play on the playground, and the roses are still a week or two away from being in full bloom, but we had a good time regardless. The weather was so nice, meaning it was hot, which I love. Kristi I am sure thinks it is better when it is like 60 degrees outside.

We then went to eat at this Mexican place called Azteca. It is pretty good, although I think they only had 1 server working the entire restaurant when we were there. Oh well, good food, good company, good time, right?

The pinnacle of our day, well mine at least, was when we went to Cinetopia to watch a movie. We love this movie theater. We watched the movie in their Living Room, which looks like this.

HD projector, leather chairs/love seats with ottomans, these are seriously the most comfortable chairs ever, this is the place to go to see a movie. They also have this 4 star restaurant inside the theater, you can either sit down and eat, or you can order from your chair before the movie. Since we had just eaten the huge lunch, we decided to get a piece of chocolate cake to share. And holy crap, was it good. Normally I don't like cake that is not made by either my wife or mother, but this was delicious. And judging from the chocolate frosting that was all over my beautiful bride's lips, face and fingers, I'm just going to assume that she enjoyed it as well.

Because Indiana Jones doesn't start until Thursday, and Batman doesn't come out until July, we thought we would join the masses and go and see Iron Man. I am glad that we did. I was not really interested in the movie when I first heard about it, and I was not a huge Robert Downey Jr. fan, but those things have since changed. This movie was rad. (Yes I said rad, I am trying to bring it back. Help me out here people.) I recommend that you go see it. This is just an entertaining movie from start to finish.

We decided that we should probably get home and rescue my parents from the kids at that point, so we did just that. After we put them down to bed, we took my dad to the grocery store (remember, most boring couple ever is the goal here) and then went to El Pollo Loco for a 9:45 pm dinner. That place is pretty good! It just opened here and I am now a fan I think. It is basically a Mexican KFC after all, how can you go wrong?

All in all, it was a great way to spend a lazy, warmer than normal, May Monday.

Normally someone would preface this next statement/paragraph with something like, "Not to sound cliche', " but that is exactly what I am going for here, is cliche'; The last seven years have truly been the best of my life. I have thankfully had the pleasure of enjoying these years with my best friend, who also happens to be my hot wife. She is incredible, and I am so lucky to have her. She keeps me on the straight and narrow, she deals with my stupidity and shenanigans, and she loves me unconditionally. Normally I would throw in a line about how I don't deserve her or I somehow tricked her into marrying me, but I like to think that it's because I try to every day tell her how much I love her and show her the same thing by the way I treat her. It is my goal to make her laugh every day, and I hope that I succeed in that, because one of my little joys in life is to see Kristi laugh. She is the best, and I love her for it.

I love you Kristi. Thanks for hanging out with me for a while.

Happy Birthday Benamin

Warning: You may fall in love with Ben if you read this!

I have the greatest husband in the whole world. He's almost really old (he is turning 29 today) and I can't wait to make fun of him for a whole year telling him that he's almost 30! Ben is the most wonderful man I have ever met. He is everything I have ever wanted in a husband and I feel blessed every single day to have him in my life. He might speak before he thinks sometimes and he smells pretty gross after basketball, but I love him anyway. :-) Our 7 year anniversary is on Monday and I would have to say that 7 years isn't enough time to spend with this man, so I pray I'll have many, many more years to come. We have more inside jokes than I can count (and apparently some that we BOTH forgot about). I laugh with him (or at him) every day. He takes care of our family and makes a lot of sacrifices for us. I am eternally grateful to him for working so hard so that I can stay home and take care of our children. I am also very grateful that Ben was so cute as a kid because our kids look exactly like him! He is a wonderful father and husband and I love him more than anything. I would do anything for him (except put shrimp in jambalaya). Have a wonderful day today, Benamin. I love you.

The Girls

I just have to share a couple of cute pictures of my girls. (I must admit, it's been 3 weeks and "girls" still sounds totally bizarre to me. I never thought I'd have 2 girls.)

Nicole and Daddy have had some really special bonding time. Usually it invovles Nicole getting something good to eat like Chili Cheese Fritos or a spoon of peanut butter.

I'm still holding out for blue eyes for Tori. I can't tell you how excited I would be if they turned blue. I know, it's weird, but I have ALWAYS wanted a baby with blue eyes. Maybe it's because I always wished that I had blue eyes myself.

Random Cool Pictures Of A Non-Cool Event

These pictures are (allegedly) un-photoshopped pics of the volcano in Chili that is raising all kinds of hell.

No real point to these, just thought they were cool.

Brainwashing!!

Ben is trying to corrupt my sweet little girl and turn her into a LAKERS FAN! I cannot let this happen. This is how they spent their "bonding time" last night.

Luckily, she can't see that far yet so she sort of looked around for something more interesting. (That's my girl!)

Bad Habits

I am not a nail biter. I never have been. I actually used to wish that I was because all my friends did it, but I just couldn't stomach it. Ben bites his nails when he's watching sports (weird, I know). Tyler bites all of his nails except his ring finger. I have to cut it every once in a while, but he keeps the other ones nice and short. I know, I should discourage him from doing it, but I never really cared if he bites his nails or not... until today. I walked into the family room and saw him biting his nails. Unfortunately, he wasn't biting his FINGERnails. Eww. Toenail biting is just too gross. Especially since the bottom of his feet are all dirty from playing outside this morning. Double eww. The worst part is that he wanted me to make a movie of him biting his toenails. So, here it is for everyone to see what a gross little boy I have. He even admits that it's yucky, but he does it anyway. It must be a boy thing (sort of like "pull my finger" and armpit noises).

Also, I would like to pledge my love to my jeans. I will never take you for granted again. You may not be name brand and they aren't exactly high fashion, but I love them nonetheless. There is something wonderful about buttoning and zipping a pair of jeans. Elastic waistbands SUCK. I love my jeans and I want to wear them every single day for the rest of my life. I am wearing real jeans again for the first time in many, many moons. I cannot tell you all how wonderful it feels to wear real people clothes again! I am a very happy girl. :-)
