A trip down memory lane

So I found this on Janelle's blog and thought it looked pretty fun! Humor me okay?! I'm curious if you remember things that I don't.

Here are the directions:

1. As a comment on this post, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Okay, I'll post a memory.

The first time I met you was going to a hypnotism show in provo with Ben. They guy hypnotized everyone on stage to make them think he has the biggest, ummm . . . "package", they had ever seen. Then he started spinning around. I guess this really has nothing to do with you, but you were there.

We were, uh, talking, in my car up on a hill (not Squaw Peak) looking over Provo, when there is a knock on my window. Cops? Of course not. Psycho ex-girlfriend! Weird, weird times. I can't believe you stuck with me of all people. Imaluvu.

So kind of stupid, but I was new in the ward, Bronx needed a refill on his acid reflux medication and I needed a new pediatrician... I thought you were such a cute mom (with flawless skin) and I'd probably like your Dr. so I called you and told me about Dr. Miller. Thank goodness for that bc I think he is such a great doctor and he no longer excepts new patients so I'd be outta luck now:)
PS I'd like to hear the story of the psycho ex-girlfriend... lets go to the beach for a weekend!!!

Hey Kristi-I can't really think of any specifics...but I can remember some very attractive moments at girls camp and at least one all-nighter at your house. Remember when you borrowed my dress for the Snoball dance?-You looked better in it than I did!

The first time Ben brought you to the house you were wearing a baseball cap with your ponytail sticking out & I thought you were beautiful. Ben had been "hanging out" with the girl who was "just a friend" (aka the psycho girlfriend) who we just couldn't see him with. After you guys left, Jim (aka Ben's dad) looked at me & said, "Now she is more what I expect Ben to be with." I totally agreed. I admire your patience & kindness, and think you are a most amazing wife, mother, daughter, & friend. Thanks for being such a great wife to Ben, & for giving us such three wonderful grandkids-they are the joy of our lives. We love you very much!!

hmmm. So many to choose from. :) I'm going to go with... stake dances. Not any particular one but I do remember going to many with you. When we were standing in a group you were always the first one to get asked. You were always very nice to all the boys, even Gavin (was that his name?) Remember him? How weird is it that I remember him? To this day when I hear "Lady in Red" or "Africa" I think of those good old dancing days when our parents had to come pick us up at 11:00pm when the night was over!

Hmmm, "Psycho ex-girlfriend" that just so happened to not be an ex-girlfriend at that point in time.
I think, with the amount of time you knew her as a friend before you even dated, and with the fact that you have mutual friends and acquaintances reading your blog, that she deserves quite a bit more respect than you have given her. Just a thought.

Okay, I will come clean. I did not handle the 'ex-girlfriend' becoming the ex very well back in the day. And by not very well, I mean I butchered it, and I have never denied that. I handled it BADLY. I have felt bad about it for 8 years now!

But in the context of having someone show up at a very obscure place when it is completely unexpected, it was not a very normal turn of events, and that is what I was trying to express.

I am not trying to offend anyone, and am truly very sorry if I did.

Kristi,
I remember the fist Sunday at church that I saw you. First I was jealous because you are so beautiful (who's not, right?) Second, you stood up in RS to introduce yourself and candidly and honestly said you needed a friend. I thought that was so sweet and sincere. Then, lo and behold that same day I found out I was assigned to be your VT. I was glad I would get the chance to get to know you. (Even though I know I am the worst VT ever! Please forgive me!)

Hmmm...my favorite memory was when you invited us over for dinner at wymount and cooked for me and made me dessert and it was yummy. And I was always jealous of your skin and hair, as was the rest of the world. Miss you! AND we have matching foot scars!! haha

Okay, so I am totally with everyone else at being totally awed by how beautiful you are when I met you. What I love is that you are totally down to earth and I love chatting with you when we get the chance. I miss you in RS because I loved all your comments! And, by the way, you were the best ever when I showed up on your doorstep with 6 nine year olds and a dinner we didn't know what to do with! I can't believe how great you were to let us in and let them all hold your baby that was like days old at the time!
